One Happy Kid

Wow, that is a face of a happy kid! My friend Elizabeth's kids were over yesterday, so Garrett got to have a play date. The child in the Spiderman costume is Trent (four years old). His dad dropped him off in this outfit...boys! The kiddos had a great time.
For those who don't know, Garrett's nickname is Mr. G. My mom's friend at work made him the shirt he is wearing...isn't it so cute. I'm thinking on using this idea for a Super Saturday project.
I hope Garrett's big grin has brought a smile to your day!

Dancin' In Daddy's Shoes

Garrett came out of our bedroom and started dancing around the living room in Aaron's shoes, it was a great morning dust of cuteness!

Time Out for Women Trip

Over the weekend my friend April, who was my room mate my freshman year of college, come with me to Deseret Books Time Out for Women event in Riverside, CA. April and I have stayed friends for all these years, she holds a special place in my heart since she first introduced me to the church. She lives in Fresno now with her twin baby boys and sweet little girl Ellie, who is four. Wow crazy how time flies! We are able to do just a girls trip, so it felt like we were in college again, it was really fun catching up and getting some girl talk in. We went to lunch to the most yummy bakery Simple Simons, I had a chicken salad sandwich...I think I start to drool a little thinking about it...so bad!

We stayed with my mom and she went to the event with us. It was a uplifting spiritual event and I would recommend attending when it comes to your area. I was truly grateful to be able to attend. Thank you Aaron, Mandi and Kandi for watching my Mr. G! I think that he missed me terribly, and I was really excited to see my little man's sweet face again.

Much love!

Another Project Complete

So once again we are working on the house. I have to say after doing this project the house looks complete.
My dad and I poured 2.5 yards of concrete last weekend to fill in a big dirt area in the back yard. I looks great and Sarah loves it.

Turkeys

So, I can't hunt elk in CA because the average tag cost about $10,000, so I have become addicted to something else. Turkey hunting. These birds are just like an elk they talk (for the non-hunter reader, talking is used to describe noises the animals make during the breeding season. Elk bugle and turkeys gobble)

Anyway, I have been going out quite often in the early morning chasing these little birds and have had so much fun calling them in. (Calling is what the hunter/me does to get the bird/animal to come to me so I can shoot it) The central coast has turkeys everywhere, they are like flies on food, they are literally everywhere. By the way, this was a hard hunt as you can see the big tom gobbler is soaking wet as was I from being rained on during the whole excursion.

I can't wait until Garrett is big enough to shoot a gun, this is going to be the first thing I take him to do as far as the hunting goes. I am sure he will love it!

I just thought I would share what I have been up to other then taking care of the house which I might add looks absolutely wonderful. And after this weekend we will have a little patio area in the backyard for our outdoor furniture to be placed so it will be a very inviting summer party place. Hope everyone is doing well for everyone else.

Santa Barbara Zoo

Friday we had the best day at the zoo. We drove down to Santa Barbara in the morning and met up with three other moms from the ward. Between all of us their were 11 kiddos! There was so many people that we were unable to stay together so Emily and I split off. Garrett was so happy all day, it was defiantly a great trip! His favorite exhibit were the penguins.

This picture is of the little kids that were with us (the older ones went to check out the monkeys!) From left to right: Jerrome Damery, Emeran Slane, Brane Damery, Niome Damery, Kate Evans, Becca Evans, Garrett Smith, Braden Slane and at the bottom Anna Cavaletto) What a bunch of cuties!

Garrett checking out the flamingos.

Easter in Riverside

The family headed down to Riverside for Easter on Thursday night to spend time with my family. I had a nasty sinus infection, so half of the trip was spent sick. Seems to always happen when you are supposed to go out of town.
My mom make a huge Easter dinner that was so delicious that I'm just getting hungry thinking about it. We had a great weekend visiting my family who we don't get to see very often. Garrett just loves all the attention he gets in Riverside, he was really sad the whole ride home. The picture is at the Easter egg hunt we went to at my mom's church.
Hope you all had a great Easter!

He's doing it!

Ok so Aunt Shelli so graciously obtained a lawnmower for Garrett, and since we were leaving for the weekend to visit family, I needed to mow the lawns. It was time to put all the training to work and see if he really could do it.

Guess what, he is addicted to mowing the lawns, now if the lawnmower he's using only would cut the grass, I could kick back knowing my lawns were taken care of.

Enjoy!

Friday Fence Day

We, meaning the whole family, yes even Garrett, built a fence to enclosed our front patio. Garrett is Daddy 'lil helper!

Yeehaa!

This is a good close-up of our big boy!

One of Garrett's Best Day Ever

So I know I have already talked about Garrett's friend Ethan, but I'm going to talk about him again because we went to Ethan's Grandma Fay's house on Saturday for his 2nd birthday party. Now seriously this was the coolest party ever. There were tractor rides, a bounce house, tent maze, Easter egg hunt and a good ole' BBQ dinner. WOW, huh?

Garrett's fav part for sure was the Easter egg hunt, he was a egg bandit. He was all about collecting those eggs, he even filled up two baskets. Everyone was laughing at how into the game he was. I think that he just caught on to the fact there were goodies inside the eggs!

He's getting even better

Ok, so we are on to the next step of the lawn mowing training. This picture definitely worth a thousand words. Just take a look.

My Friend Ethan

My friend Ashleigh watches Garrett a few days a week for me so I can go into the office. She does a great job taking care of Mr. G. Her son Ethan is Garrett's buddy. Most of the time Ashleigh plays toy referee, but there are other times when the two are best buds. If Ethan is in time out, Garrett cries for him. Too cute! Sadly, our friends are moving to New York and we will miss them terribly! I'm sure that Garrett and Ethan will be pen pals! In this last picture Ethan is giving Garrett a "hug", although it looks like the recipient is not appreciating the friendly gesture:)

Four Years and Still Lovin' It

Aaron and I celebrated our four-year wedding anniversary on Feb. 22. We were in Reno for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, so we got to have alot of fun. Dennis and Kandi met us up there and watched Garrett so we have a romantic evening. We went to dinner at Famous Murphys (wow, the food was amazing) then saw Bill Egnval, the comedian. We had so much fun. If was funny to us that while we were away from Garrett, all we seemed to talk about is how we missed him.

We are looking forward to what the next four years has in store for the Smiths. Hopefully more cute babies and lots of love:)

How dirty was he?

Yesterday Garrett got really dirty so I decided to give him a wash and during the drying cycle he popped out to say hello. He is a true boy, into everything including climbing into the dryer.
I think Garrett can officially say he has investigated everywhere in the house.

PILOT TO CO-PILOT

Its never to young to learn the chores that lay in your future. Today the art of mowing the lawn was taught. See how the pupil learns.

Hey there are all kinds of tricks you can teach them, Garrett likes this so much I figure that by the time he is old enough to mow the lawn himself he will have a fetish for it. I should have been a psychologist. HAHA

She has lost it!

I admit, I'm really into celerity gossip. I just can't believe that Britney Spears shaved her head. Is she loosing it or what. She checked herself out of rehab, after spending not even a full day there. Flew home, shaved her head, then headed over to a tattoo parlor to get inked up. She got lips on her wrist and another tatoo that is unknown at this time. Oh dear!
I think this is a major cry for help.

All Boy!

I was asked why I haven't been posting as much lately. The answer is I lost my camera, and I think posting without pics is boring. So, then yesterday I finally found it and I took this pic of Garrett after he was playing with his new water toys in a backyard, and he had just ate a cupcake, he was really a mess! Shortly after this picture was taken I hung his pants and shirt over a chair to dry and Koda, the devil dog, ate them to pieces and scattered them all over the backyard. Naughty puppy.

Much love, Hope you all had a great Valentines Day!

Awards Dinner

Aaron and I went to the Paso Robles Events Center and Mid-State Fair Annual Dinner last night. Aaron was invited to go to represent Weatherby for their sponsorship to the Mid-State Fair. We got to dress up and have a nice dinner and sit through a three-hour presentation on sponsorship recognition...fun, fun, fun. At least it got us dressed up for a nice photo opportunity.

Then and Now

Aaron sent me an email today with a picture of Koda when he was a puppy, and in the subject line he wrote "What Happened?". This email got me thinking about how fast time goes by. I thought Garrett had grown so fast, but puppies grow up even faster. Most people who know me know how much I love babies. I'm realizing the two babies in the house are not really babies anymore. So, here is a little tribute to cherishing lives precious moments.

Our Little Excursion

My neighbor Jenn invited Garrett and I to travel with her to the Santa Ynez Valley, which has grown extreme popularity from the movie "Sideways". It is about a hour and 15 min. drive South from Atascadero. We went and visited her parents, who had the biggest most beautiful house I have ever seen. It was all Spanish architecture, with original Mexican artwork, a fountain, wine cellar, all on the hillside overlooking the Santa Ynez Valley. It was gorgeous.

We went for a little drive into town to this cute store call "Back on the Ranch" it had all kinds of cowboy decor and apparel, even for children too. We spend like an hour and a half in that store. I ended up getting this really cute outfit for Garrett (shown below). It was pretty pricey, so I just did a lot of looky-looing:)

On the way back to Jenn's parents house we past a little town call Ballard. There was a little red school house that has been in operation since 1882. The school house holds k-1 graders. I just thought it was the cutest thing ever.

It was a great day, but after chasing after Garrett making sure he didn't break any collectibles...I was exhausted and went to sleep at 8:00 p.m.!

Aaron got home this morning...soooo happy to have him home for a whole month!

Baby Gymastics!

Garrett's new found love is baby gymnastics. We went for the first time today and he loved it. He had so much fun playing on the giant trampoline and doing sumersalts. He even got to walk the balance beam.

My friend Emily is the gym coach, so it made it even more fun. I brought my friend Elizabeth and her son Drake with us. That is Drake playing with the soccer ball.

Notice Garrett's t-shirt says "I do all my own stunts"...it was suiting for the event. It was hard getting a good picture of him, he was too busy to pause for the camera.
